Winners from each class will compete for Best Male and Best Female respectively for ten (10) additional points. The Best Male and the Best Female will compete for Best in Show with the winner receiving ten (10) additional points. Puppy class competition held separate from Adult class competition.
Junior Championship
A puppy (ages three months to twelve months) who earns 100 points and at least one major win as Best Male or Best Female over a minimum of fifteen puppies in their respective classes or Best In Show or All Around Best in Show Puppy over a cumulative total of fifteen puppies, will gain the title of Junior Champion. In order for a Junior Champion to earn its EKC Championship, it must enter into the adult classes at one year of age or older and earn one major win as Best Male or Best Female over a minimum of twenty dogs in their respective classes or Best In Show over a cumulative total of twenty dogs. Earned Puppy Points are carried over and count towards Adult Points.
Best in show
Puppy
The Best In Show Standard Puppy dog will compete against the Best In Show Classic Puppy dog for Best In Show Puppy with the winner receiving ten additional points.
The Best In Show Puppy will be judged by the: Classic judge, the Standard judge and a (if available) third judge, with each judge having one vote, majority rules.
*If a third judge is not available then a decision must be agreed upon between both judges as to determine the winner.
*If the show is judged by one judge then this judge will judge the class and determine the winner.
A win over a cumulative 15 dogs in the Best in Show Puppy class also constitutes a major win. This class may also be termed Best of Breed Puppy.
Show resultsThe Best In Show Puppy will be judged by the: Classic judge, the Standard judge and a (if available) third judge, with each judge having one vote, majority rules.

The EKC
Championship Requirements
*Before earning champion status, a dog must complete one of the following. A dog will become a champion based on whichever of the two methods of championship is attained first:
1. Major Win
A. Dog must earn at least one major win as Best Male or Best Female over a minimum of twenty dogs in their respective classes or Best In Show or All Around Best in Show over a cumulative total of twenty dogs.
B. The EKC will accept 100% of the points earned from the six major registries: ABA, ABNA, ABRA, ARF, NABA, NKC, JDJ and UKC, not to exceed a total of fifty points. The EKC requires written documentation outlining the points earned.
Point Transfer Requirements:
Please provide the following information with verification to [email protected] when transferring conformation points:
- Registered name
- Registry and registry number
- Name of event(s)
- Date of event(s)
- Number of point’s earned and the classes participated in
- Owner name & address
- The EKC will no longer accept points for transfer (re: the “Championship requirements” 1(b) ) from other registries events/shows held after the 1st July 2008.
- The EKC will continue to accept requests until the 31st December 2008 to transfer points (re: the “Championship requirements” 1(b) ) from those events/shows which were held before the 1st July 2008
- After the 31st December 2008, 1(b) re points transfers in the championship requirements will No longer be available as an option in the EKC points system.
C. A total of 100 points is required for an EKC Championship.
2. Multiple Wins
A. Dog must have attained two Adult Best In Shows and one additional and separate win in which the dog achieves at least Adult Best Male or Best Female, all under different judges.
For example, an Adult Best Male or Female win attained in the same ring (same day, same judge) as the Adult Best In Show does not count – it is not a separate win.
(Puppy BIS and BM/BF wins will not count toward an Adult Championship under this method, but they will count toward EKC Puppy (Junior) Championship under existing rules, and, as stated above, the puppy points attained will count toward the 150 total points needed for an Adult Championship).
B. Dog must defeat 40 dogs collectively in the 2 Adult BIS wins and the 1 additional Adult BM/BF win (or Adult BIS).
For example: 1st Adult BIS (defeated 17 dogs under Judge X) 2nd Adult BIS (defeated 14 dogs under Judge Y), Adult BM (defeated 12 dogs under Judge Z), Total of 43 dogs defeated – dog qualifies for an Adult Championship if 150 points are earned.
C. To qualify for a championship, the 2 BIS and 1 BM/BF or better wins must all be in the same “type,” either Classic or Standard.
D. A total of 150 EKC points is required. EKC Puppy points and EKC Adult points both count towards this 150 point total. No points may be transferred from another registry to qualify under this method.

What is the
Champions class
Those dogs having earned EKC conformation championships will be eligible to compete in the Champions Class. Champion males and females will compete together. Three champions or more of either type, Standard or Classic must be entered to earn credit toward a Grand Champion title. Each dog will be judged by the breed standard relevant to their type. (Less than three entries will be shown in exhibition only)
*Champions must win the Champion of Champions class 3 times under 3 different judges to earn the title of Grand Champion.
There is only a single winner. 5 points are awarded to the winner of the class for each dog that he/she beats
Also the EKC is working on a formula for announcing National Champions. ie there will be Danish, Dutch, German etc champions. More about that to follow soon.

The EKC strongly encourages all owners to have their dog’s hips certified by either OFA or PennHIP. In doing so, we will document the results on all championship certifications. If the dog has not been certified, that will be noted as well.
Working titles from recognized working associations, i.e., WABA, IWPA, Schutzhund, Ring Sport, Search and Rescue etc., will be documented on all championship certifications. We encourage owners to have their dogs actively involved in one or more of the working disciplines.
It is not the intent of the EKC to be a governing body that mandates requirements. However, we do want to recognize those owners and dogs that have taken the time and effort to promote and bring credence to our breed.
